Parent Leadership Partnership

Parent Leadership
The Parent Leadership Partnership (PLP) at Pleasant Valley Connection is a year-long, cohort-based program designed to equip parents and caregivers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become strong advocates for their children and effective leaders in their schools and community.

Through a structured series of interactive workshops, trainings, and real-world experiences, parents engage in learning that demystifies the education system and builds practical leadership capacity. Participants explore topics such as understanding how schools operate, navigating policies and procedures, addressing the achievement gap, and strengthening family-school partnerships. The program also emphasizes personal growth—helping parents recognize their voice, value their lived experiences, and lead with purpose.

What sets PLP apart is its focus on action. Parents don’t just learn—they apply. Throughout the year, participants attend school meetings, engage in community discussions, and connect with local leaders and education professionals. These experiences position them to confidently advocate for their children and contribute meaningfully to decisions that impact their schools and neighborhoods.

At its core, the Parent Leadership Partnership is about building power within families because when parents are informed, engaged, and empowered, children thrive, schools strengthen, and communities move forward together.
